SCHOLARSHIPS HAVE BEEN FILLED FOR 2021
Planning and Preparation for Summer Camp is underway! Each Session this year will be a one week session where children ages 6-15 can create, produce, and perform their very own musical right on our Main Stage! Throughout the day, campers will build acting, dance and voice skills, and characterization alongside team leadership, ensemble work, creative growth, and friendships that will continue throughout their lives. We are also taking all necessary precautions to keep our camp sanitized, clean, and safe for all campers.
For each session, campers will present script ideas to the acting specialist who will then write out scenes based on all the ideas given by the campers on the first day of camp. Each group will learn one musical number to both sing and dance to. In addition to that we will have one group number that the entire camp will learn to close our show. Musical numbers are chosen by camp staff and are tied into the script based on either the scenes written or theme of that particular camp. Each session will have a stage performance of what was learned on the Friday of each session at 3:30p.m. No lunch or snack is provided, we eat lunch at about 12:30 daily. Camp time 9:00 - 4:30 M-F. Parents will enjoy a full stage show at the end of each session that will demonstrate what our campers have created and learned from concept to curtain call!

WHAT IS CAMP ABOUT
AND WHAT CAN MY CHILD EXPECT
Young People’s Theatre Camp exists to:
CREATE extraordinary theatre experiences that aim to educate, challenge and inspire young performers in a professional venue. YPTC encourages performers to think critically and work collaboratively.
FOSTER an appreciation for theatre as an art form and theatre as a community. Instruction will be geared toward empowering each child as they grow into their own as performers while emphasizing the importance of being part of an ensemble.
ENCOURAGE leadership and responsibility beyond the stage, ultimately cultivating the next generation of active, passionate citizens and art advocates.
Young performers will embark on a one-week intensive journey that will cover all the essential elements required to create, rehearse and perform a musical.
Through the process of writing and producing an original show, young performers will learn:
· Acting, Dance and Voice Technique
· Character Development
· Story Structure
· Theatre Terminology
· Theatre Etiquette
YOUNG PERFORMERS WILL...
LEARN about the audition process and how to appropriately select and prepare pieces that will best represent their personality and abilities.
DISCOVER what kind of performer they are, what style they gravitate towards and how to market their strengths while recognizing and working on their weaknesses.
COLLABORATE with children of all ages, levels of experience and socioeconomic backgrounds to create one idea that celebrates our differences and the diversity in our community.
TRAIN with counselors, staff and directors who work in the field professionally, support children’s theatre and recognize the need for its presence in Corpus Christi.
