HARBOR PLAYHOUSE – 1802 N. Chaparral Corpus Christi, TX 78401
On July 6th, Harbor Playhouse officially opened the doors to the organization’s newly renovated Joyce and Cliff Zarsky Studio Theater. The grand reopening celebration began at 6:00 PM and the Harbor Playhouse recognized Joyce Zarsky and the Earl Sam’s Foundation as the generous supporters who made the restoration possible. The event included a melodrama performance and the Playhouse hosted 100 patrons for the first show in the Zarsky Studio Theater since 2010.
Josh Goldson, the Technical Director and Resident Artist at the Harbor Playhouse, designed and drafted the architectural reconfiguration for the space. Josh intended “to keep the black-box style theater as a flexible space.” Goldson designed an empty canvas that the Harbor Playhouse artistic staff can build upon based on a production’s needs. The renovation was completed by Alazan Builders and the theater now includes a modern dressing room, technical booth, storage facility, and more space for performances.
Moving forward, the venue will be used for melodramas, plays, educational opportunities, and more! Currently, the Joyce and Cliff Zarsky Studio Theater is being used for a production of No Opera at the Op’ry House Tonight or Too Good to Be True. This production takes place on Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 PM and Sundays at 2:30 PM through July 29th.
