Auditions at Harbor Playhouse

What to Expect at an Audition

The first and most important part of auditioning for a show at The Harbor Playhouse is to show up!

The audition experience is designed first and foremost to be fun! When auditioning for a musical, actors are asked to bring music for 16 bars of a prepared song. You will be taught a short movement combination and also be asked to read from pre-selected excerpts from the script. Each actor will be given a number and we ask that you bring a recent photo of yourself that you don't mind us keeping. These photos need not be professional quality and can simply be a copy of your favorite snapshot of yourself.

When auditioning for a play, actors will be asked to read pre-selected excerpts from the script. Some directors also incorporate acting exercises to measure one's ability to follow direction.

The Harbor Playhouse is open to everyone! We encourage new people to come to every audition and work diligently to give every person the opportunity to realize their dream of being on stage.

The Harbor Playhouse does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, gender, religion, national origin, age, disability, sexual orientation, or any other legally protected characteristics.
